Streets of Fire
The Blasters! ... *conks head*... well of course The Blasters. And every other neon rockabilly 80's/50's punk who wants to throw down. Sledgehammers at high noon. For everything else, there's Amy Madigan. I like how the movie pits two different pairs of overalls together; Paré's Farmboy-For-Hire duds vs. Dafoe's Evil Industrial Slicks. I think I also like the rest of it, too. Hot damn!
Streets of Fire
Energetic and badass throughout, but off-rip is accentuated by an insane opening 10 minutes filled with quick cuts, flashing lights, a toe-tapping musical number, and bikers tearing through the town destroying it without care. The rest of the film follows suit. Hokey dialogue, beautiful lighting, fun action, and Rick Moranis outshining every other actor around him. Michael Paré is wooden as all hell, which makes for a main character that I couldn't care for (other than when he's doing cool stuff). Truly, this flick is like a video game come to life, from a time when video games were nothing like this. "Streets of Fire" is only bogged down by a slightly slow finish and a final act that feels more like an encore, rather than the main act. Overall, though, a hell of an enjoyable watch!
Streets of Fire
Goddamn this fucking rips. You could never make this today because it would have to be too winky and knowing, instead of just going completely in on the reality/concept.
