Kinnear and Dafoe are both fantastic in this. While not written by him, Schrader’s authorial voice is certainly felt. I really appreciate the choice not to try and diagnose Crane, or provide answers. Nor does it portray him as a monster, or victim, just a sad, sad man who hurt a lot of people. Not a feel good watch, but a good one nonetheless.
