Diary entries forDonnie Darko
Donnie Darko
I remember hearing about this movie a lot when I was growing up. It seemed to be one of those hip indie movies that really made its way around by word of mouth. I owned it for many years in different formats, but for whatever reason just never had a chance to sit down and watch it. And when I finally did, I decided to give the theatrical version a go. I tend to do that anyway because I like to view a movie how it was originally presented to the audience, then when I want to watch it again, view the alternate cut to see how much better or worse it really is. The general consensus seems to be that the theatrical version is better, especially for a first time viewing, because it leaves the ambiguity and vagueness intact. And I gotta say, I agree with that sentiment. To echo a lot of the other reviews on here, I did enjoy this movie. A lot. But at the same time, I don't think I really understand it all. Throughout the movie, you are given plenty of hints and clues that connect back and forth. It is really fun to think about, even after the movie is over. But the movie never comes right out and gives you a clear explanation about it, and while I'm usually annoyed by that, for this movie it was just different. I don't know why.

Donnie Darko
Donnie: [reading poem in class] "'A storm is coming,' Frank says. 'A storm that will swallow the children. And I will deliver them from the kingdom of Bane. I'll deliver the children back to their doorsteps. I'll send the monsters back to the underground. I'll send them back to a place where no one else can see them except for me, 'cause I am Donnie Darko.'" Amei. Donnie: What happened to your eye? Frank: I'm so sorry.

Donnie Darko
"okay. but you're not listening to me. there are other things that need to be taken into account here, like the whole spectrum of human emotion. you can't just lump everything into these two categories and then just deny everything else." esse filme continua sendo hipnotizante, sempre tenho novas interpretações cada vez q revejo essa bagunça com teorias científicas e distorção do espaço-tempo. continua sendo tão confuso, mas a experiência louca e existencial de ver uma turbina de avião quebrar a quarta parede e um coelho gigante ser o guia de um adolescente com problemas emocionais pra resolver tudo isso, compensa dms
Donnie Darko

Donnie Darko
A cult classic, DD shows what happens when everything goes right. The acting, plot and themes in this one blend together beautifully to create one of the most interesting films of all time. I loved everything about it, a must watch.
