Bottle Rocket

Wes Anderson’s first full length film, BR feels like a less violent Reservoir Dogs, just not as good. The acting is good but the story drags and the story has little heart. It’s okay, but no means great.

Bottle Rocket

It's insane that Wes Anderson knew exactly what he was doing in his directorial career from his very first film. It has almost all the markings of his later work but none of the pageantry (which I'm okay with!) It's really solid! I admire Anderson's work and his approach to film-making, even this early in his career. The film moves at a break-neck pace which works perfectly here. Owen and Luke Wilson sound almost identical which can get confusing at times but overall, I enjoyed it!

Bottle Rocket

Luke Wilson looks like a more nourished version of Owen Wilson. That’s pretty much what I walked out of this film with.

Bottle Rocket

❝They'll never catch me... because I'm fucking innocent.❞ ❝You've never worked a day in your life. How can you be exhausted?❞ ⊱ ──── . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁. ──── ⊰ ranking wes anderson's filmography ⋆.˚༄ (https://boxd.it/SoFy4) It was interesting to see how Wes Anderson and the Wilson brothers started out. Bottle Rocket doesn't have many of the stylistic choices I've come to associate with Anderson, but it was still a nice film. I thought that everyone gave a great performance, and I liked the characters, especially Bob. The story was alright, but if I'm being honest it did drag quite a bit, though it had its moments. Overall, even though I don't know if I'd watch it again, Bottle Rocket isn't a bad film by a long shot, and it's nice to see how far everyone's come over the years.

Bottle Rocket

If you told me this wasn’t directed by Wes Anderson I would believe you, besides maybe a montage or two theres barely anything reminiscent of his usual style.  The story is pretty thin but I still had fun, was cool to see Owen Wilson in his first role.  6.5/10

COMEDYx52(025) (https://letterboxd.com/allbeef/list/comedyx52025/) #19 of 52 | Watch a comedy film directed by Wes Anderson (https://letterboxd.com/director/wes-anderson/genre/comedy/). Wes Anderson’s first and somehow most grounded film. I know most of his later works seem to get the most praise, but I think there’s really something to be said about his 90s-era filmography. Watching this and comparing it to the likes of Asteroid City (https://boxd.it/s3ds)really paints an incredible progressional picture of style.Bottle Rocketis very clearly Wes’ first major motion picture, but it’s got the quirky writing and wacky narrative that we’ve all come to know so well. Rushmore (https://boxd.it/1TAO)has many of the same qualities carried over, but with a touch more focus on the camera work and colors. Following that isRoyal Tenenbaums (https://boxd.it/1YHU)(one of my favorites) which I think exhibits and embodies a clear turning point in his style, refining and combining lovable yet weird characters in a turbulent situation with cinematography and production design that is just absolutely to die for. It’s really the first film of his that feels truly 100% “Wes Anderson”. After that, the dial just keeps getting turned up every time with even more witty dialogue and pastel colors and perfectly framed shots in every subsequent film. There is no denying that at this point, Wes Anderson has truly found his niche.

Bottle Rocket
