Diary entries forFirst Blood
First Blood
- honestly, after watching this, and knowing that he gets thrown back into the kind of shit that haunted him so deeply in following sequels, i'mma pass on the rest.
First Blood
Fun and not very complex, Rambo achieves what it’s trying to accomplish. The film is pure 80s violence, with good thriller elements and some good acting. It gets a little deeper at the end, and takes a clear side when debating Vietnam Vets. It’s a 80s classic and one of Sylvester Stallone‘s best films.
First Blood
o stallone tem uma carinha tão triste, fiquei comovida.
First Blood
I'd never seen it, this first one. Just been sifting all this time through the scorched remains of 80's action excess and parody, thinking I had the idea of it. But no, here's an unexpectedly sensitive and affecting film, point blank in its takedown of the American aperatus. I'll drink to that. (Maybe a Jolt cola, for the 80's sake.)
First Blood
first time watch and I assumed every Rambo movie was him vs militants or militias or Mercenaries in a foreign country not small-town jackass cops in America. anyway, Rambo did nothing wrong!
First Blood
Teasle: Are you telling me that 200 of our men against your boy is a no-win situation for us? Trautman: You send that many, don't forget one thing. Teasle: What? Trautman: A good supply of body bags. just iconic
First Blood
"They drew First Blood, not me" - John Rambo God damn, what a movie. Exhilerating and it almost never lets up! The second act is a little messy with it's editing but the third act reels it back in. It's crazy that (as far as I know) an action heavy series stemmed from this because this movie isn't really that. There's action in it, yes, but this movie is a survival movie first. It's contemplative and looks at the psyche of a war veteran with PTSD. Every action in this film stems from that PTSD. Is it a good look at real trauma? I'm not sure but this movie was too fun for me to care. Stallone is awesome but scary as shit. His final monologue is really good. Brian Dennehy is also really good but he looks remarkably like Vincent D'Onofrio which got a little distracting (not a knock against the movie, that's just me) I loved it a lot (also I'm a sucker for film grain so that helps too). I think this film holds up pretty well! I don't think I'll look into the sequels though because it looks like they don't hold the same weight as this one
First Blood
Damn this holds up, Can’t wait for my sons to be old enough to watch. Oh and the rats 🐀🐀🐀 horror movie vibes there.
First Blood
Oh my gosh that was peak. Besides the John Wick Franchise this might be one of my favorite action films and it came out in 1982!?!? I've only seen him mainly in Rocky, but this is definitely one of Sylvester Stallone's best performances in what I've seen from him. The action wasn't even that crazy or choreographed like John wick but I just still really liked the simpleness to it. I mainly watched this because I used to /still do main Rambo in MK11 lol. I wasn't expecting to like the film this much. The whole concept is very interesting and entertaining. Seeing a war vet taking on a whole town and more of cops is insane. I really liked how sick Rambo is. In one way his character is a good guy and another very complicated. I really like how well his character was done. Between the sadness and the badass aspects. I wasn't expecting to almost cry while watching this, that ending monologue was just so sad. I can't imagine how it feels for people like him. I have started to really enjoy long one take diagloue scenes. They always are great. I was expecting this to be graphic, but it wasn't which I'm glad for once lol. It honestly kinda felt somewhat modern in some ways too. It reminded me a lot of predator but less horror. This was great for how they mixed Rambo fighting tons of people with the emotional mindset he was going through at the same time. Maybe its just the simpleness to this, but I really enjoyed it. So I feel like it deserves a 4.5 Great and unexpected film. Since I liked this a lot I might consider watching the sequels sooner rather than later. Edit: this is my 600th review 🎉
First Blood
A staple of action cinema. It’s really a shame that the series turned out to be what it is. This explored the humanity of a one man army and showed the negative effects that this violence can have on one man. He was invulnerable in combat but very vulnerable mentally and emotionally, that’s fascinating. As a standalone First Blood is stellar.
