The Hand That Rocks the Cradle
“You think if you try hard enough, you can stop bad things from happening. But you can't.” Confession: I haven't seen the original. Judging this purely by its own merits: it's gay but not enough, tense throughout but with what feels like the briefest release, saving its bloodiest-best for one scene. Didn't hate (how could I with these two? Maika's especially a legend), but can't say I'm not underwhelmed still
The Hand That Rocks the Cradle
Wait, what did i just watch? I haven't saw the original yet, is the original this gore and dark too? I mean damn didn't expected that. The movie is sometimes confusing and feel so slow it makes me boring actually, but the end was good! Also what am i expecting is all wrong, it's so different than i thought and the plot twist didn't so surprising. I love Maika's villain side and whatever happens to her at the ending.

nah im mad, polly/rebecca deserved so much better
The Hand That Rocks the Cradle
“Wow, the real American dream. With a white nanny and everything.” - Big fan of Maika and Mary so i probably enjoyed this more just because of them. - Nick Cave ! - Enjoyable performances just fun, not super cinematic or complex.
The Hand That Rocks the Cradle
Not a single CCTV camera on site! I can’t believe I just watched another case of talented icons getting wasted by a thinly-written script. The first half actually had me hooked—it set things up in a way that made me curious about where the story was headed. But everything after that just went flat. Even the big face-off felt surprisingly underwhelming. I’m honestly left wondering what the point of this adaptation was if it wasn’t going to bring anything new to the story. Still, to Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Maika Monroe: I’m rooting for both of you to get that well-deserved horror/thriller comeback!
The Hand That Rocks the Cradle
Appreciated the angle this took going for more of an inspired by/reinterpretation rather than just straight remake. Fun to see Maika Monroe as the villain rather than the horror heroine. As always, MEW is solid. 2025 Ranked (https://boxd.it/D1fDm)
