The Rip

Sometimes it doesn't take much for me to have a good time, and I think this movie fits the bill. It is very inspired by the likes of Training Day and other corrupt cops in poor area films. Ben and Matt, as always, work very well together. Nothing that redefines the genre, but there is more here than you might think, especially for a Netflix movie.

The Rip

honestly much better than I was expecting many, twists and turning a lot of questioning while I was watching trying to piece together the plot and mystery of the score they just found. I thought Ben and Matt have a brilliant chemistry on screen and at one point you end up rooting for one or the other as much as I don't really rate the idea of Netflix and the purpose of it being how cinema should this is the rare occasion they actually produced something theatre worthy that I would actually pay to watch more than once in cinema

The Rip

this was fun. especially the third act, i kinda sat up and locked in after that one scene. some plot holes here and there, and the final big action sequence was a little too much, but again, i had fun. it was a sufficient blend of taking itself serious but not tooo much so. i enjoyed affleck and damon and their chemistry. them speaking spanish was funny bc why is affleck so good 😂 always chuckle at this.

The Rip

If this film has no haters, I’m dead. People are calling this the most mid-movie to have ever mid, but I think it’s much worse than that. The one star is a kudos for the acting. But if they had even a slightly less-talented cast, it would render the film unwatchable. My biggest issue with this film is that it feels like a movie. Straight to streaming slop indeed. I struggled to get past the opening act. Uninspired and weak, the guns, cars and money look like props. It looks like a BTEC film student made this film. The constant hazard lights, glow of the car lights and fog. It was so unnecessarily dark. It’s so shit it’s excruciating. I was wildly disinterested and Steven Yeun deserves better than this dogshit. I tried, Carnahan. But this is mucho macho trash. I’m bewildered as to how this ever got funded.

The Rip

“Are we the good guys?” “We are and always will be.” This movie had a lot of potential. An incredible cast and a pretty decent storyline, but even with its moments, it never fully comes together. The payoff is missing. Despite having great actors like Matt and Ben, something still feels off. The side characters aren’t very interesting, and the antagonist feels weak and numb. They also completely wasted Sasha Calle’s character — an actress with real potential, but she barely gets any screen time, and the character itself isn’t even memorable. Honestly, it feels like removing her wouldn’t change the movie at all. I was really excited to watch the Ben–Matt duo (and to be fair, they were good both did a solid job), but the film doesn’t use them to their full potential. Overall, a decent watch
just not the movie it could’ve been.
