Look, I’m no Snyder head, but there’s something to be said for his taking chances. While it’s rad to finally see the giant octopus alien thing destroying NY, there’s something that just feels bland and perfunctory about this entire endeavor. An overcorrection. So devoted to the comic that it forgets to have any personality or originality of its own. It’s not bad, the source material is too good to ever turn out something bad, but it just feels so inessential and meaningless. There are many worse ways to spend your time, but if you’re craving Watchmen, go watch the HBO limited series from 5 years ago, it’s much more interesting. 2024 Ranked (https://boxd.it/rJ4dW)
