As a Sydney Sweeney fan, hell yeah I’m biased, this rules. As a boxing fan, hell yeah I’m biased, this rules. As a queer person, hell yeah I’m biased, this rules If you weren’t familiar with Christy’s story (which is thoughtfully and respectfully told throughout), the first half does a good job of lulling you into a false sense of security thinking this was only going to be a boxing tale, with Ben Foster’s creeping but quieting presence haunting the affairs enough to make you recognize there’s something more up Second half, needless to say, is where this shines most, hits hardest, and satisfies all expectations. Love Sweeney forever, and her impact during the tough scenes of self-doubt, outright terror at the walls closing in on her needing to make a choice about her abusive relationship (even at the expense of being out and proud) if she wants to survive, and the pride in her recovery in the aftermath aren’t just felt: they’re earned. Admirable. Incredible The first half lingers a bit long, has one montage maybe too many, and the supporting cast wasn’t always worth writing home about, but that’s just typical biopic criticisms I feel. Very happy I was able to catch this in theaters, can’t wait to buy it on digital and physical media! Sydney Sweeney forever!!

Sydney Sweeney has shown she’s capable of delivering strong performances, even if she’s a little inconsistent overall. She was good in this movie but if only she could shut her damn mouth and stop doing the things she does irl this movie could’ve been a hit and more people would actually appreciate her. Talking about the movie as I said Sydney absolutely nailed the role of Christy Martin. Her journey is shown really well. Sometimes I kept imagining what Christy’s life could’ve been if she had a better husband or a better mother. That thought alone makes the film hit harder. The atmosphere is bleak and intimate, but the pacing can test your patience. Some parts do feel underdeveloped. Special mention to Ben Foster I genuinely couldn’t recognise him. He completely disappeared into the role. Overall, one of the best sports drama biopics I’ve seen.

"FUCKIN' LESBIAN! 😡" more like not FUCKIN' LESBIAN enough 🗣️💔 For a movie about a closeted lesbian BOXER stuck in an abusive comphet relationship it's borderline, if not fully, lesbiphobic how much time is spent on the brutality of that relationship and not her time in the ring, explicity in the text her safe space!! (why did every fight end so fast and have such little narrative focus??? (Minus like 1 or 2), like for a sports movie id expect better boxing scenes tbh), the relationship between her and her future wife takes up like 3 scenes, HELL KEEF HAD MORE SCREEN TIME THAN HER! (and this is not just me wanting more Katy O'Brian on my screen, although it is a little that), i understand why there is so much focus on the domestic violence of it all but it's just so much and i feel like other narrative threads were sacrificed for the purpose of driving home the point. And for a movie so fucking long it's insane to me how many scenes were jarringly short and unsatisfying... Not to even get to the way time skips were handled... Idk what circle of hell Im going to for watching this Sydney Sweeney sports-bio-pic-slop-women-tourture-porn movie for lesbian (my Katy-O'Brian celebrity crush) reasons, but i hope the man who directed this is sent even farther down 👇 👇 👹 👹 (if anything watching this justifies me putting off watching the king until 2027/8) TLDR; FUCK THIS EVIL ASS COMPHET HORROR FLICK AND FUCK SYDNEY SWEENEY FOR BEING A WHITE SUPREMACIST ON THE LOW... DON'T SEE THIS MOVIE IT'S NOT WORTH IT!!! Katy O'Brian, and the real Christy Martin and Lisa Holewyne innocent btw 🙏 #lesbianscandonowronginmyeyes
