Bridge to Terabithia

Damn i didn't expect i would hurtly cry for a fantasy children movie? Oh it must really hurt to lost a friend rather than breakup with your boy/girlfriend. I like the suddenly change up genre from generic fantasy family movie to really sad movie. Kinda bored at first but crying hard at end.

Bridge to Terabithia

Começo do filme bem clichê, mas a perda muda tudo. May Belle é uma fofa. O final é uma mistura de tristeza com alegria. Todos nós precisamos de uma amizade como a da Leslie!

Bridge to Terabithia

(digging up old reviews) rewatched this for the first time in 8 years (i remember being super confused over leslie’s death when i first watched it as a kid) and had a satisfying dose of bittersweet nostalgia; this really is THE movie to make you miss childhood. the dynamic between jess and leslie was perfect and i will never get tired of watching her help him break out of his shell. all the emotions—the embarrassment / sadness / happiness / loneliness / excitement / fear / love / wonder—everything was so! real and so! raw!! i can’t love it enough. innocent friendships and healthy personal growths don’t come by often in movies and i usually don’t care for them anyway but this is a gem of a reminder to appreciate some long lost things. notable scene: the very last time jess sees leslie—her looking back and grinning at him in the rain and him returning the grin—i don’t remember the scene being that beautifully shot from my dusty memory but this time i almost cried? the emotional/cinematic contrast between pure unwary idyllic happiness and what’s about to come was surprisingly painful this time around. and i think i was only able to fully appreciate the scene this second time because i knew he would never see her again.
