Dá pra ver que esse filme foi feito com carinho. Cada pequeno detalhe do mundo tem vida e isso só enriquece os cenários. Os efeitos práticos têm um charme que, infelizmente, se perdeu com a dominância do CGI, e isso só me faz apreciar ainda mais essa obra. Acho que me apaixonei.

Muppet master Jim Henson gives audiences a dark vision of fantasy—a weird hybrid of environmental beauty and disgust—emitted in the midst of an adventure for its lonesome and wandering lead. For what it's worth, The Dark Crystal is somewhat of a spectacle—particularly within its environment and wicked animatronics—yet, it takes a lot of time to get moving. Truth be told, the film moves at a brisk pace with slightly awkward set-pieces—and it isn't until its spectacular finale when things pick up. Go for the fantasy world, stay for the Skesis. 3.3/5

Obviously an outstanding technical achievement, don't get me wrong, but at times so diabolically slow it feels more like a travelogue than an adventure. And impressive though it may be I just hate the design. Sure, let's build this richly imagined, intricately detailed fantasy world only everything is old and gross.
