What happened? With two strong first films, it seemed as if nothing could go wrong for this franchise. There was a solid base for the rest of the films, yet they somehow managed to go in a completely different direction for Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth. It's clear to see that this film is a major step down from the first two films, as it abandoned the stylistic choices and general aesthetic of the first films. It's a surprise to see this is an early 90's film, since it has a similar structure to horror films from the early 00's, with an emphasis on sex and gore, primarily the sex. This film started to drag on about halfway through, and even with the film's short runtime, it felt like this was going on for ages. It's sad to see that this film left out the things that made the first two films great, since it really could have been a solid addition to the franchise.
