Diary entries forCaught by the Tides
Caught by the Tides
A simplistic idea with convoluted approach; experimenting unused & personal footage whilst environmentally criticise the change whilst also be lyricist. I didn't enjoy the first part of it, as it was tedious to fathom regardless of my understanding however the finish wraps up everything with a simple quote: mainland, homeland.
Caught by the Tides
Very eager to check this out again soon so I can revisit all the droning power guitar, SOV partying, and decade-spanning architectural transmutations. Maybe then Iโll attempt a more detailed review, but for now all I can say is this is definitely one of the most striking, wonderfully assembled films of the year.

Purely peak cinema as it shifts from documentary to narrative to silent and all back and forth in its dance-hungry steps. If cinema is the naked eye to the world, this is what cinema is, a 360 lens from all angles, capturing everything it sets itself out to grasp and feast upon, connection and contentment, however little it may seem in the vast landscapes this film presents in abandoned theaters, the empty sea, and the gross surplus of production. I still seek contentment and connection in a hyper-capitalistic state because it is all capital in the end, and I am capital cattle, lonely and untethered to the shell of the world.
