Diary entries forThe Count of Monte Cristo
The Count of Monte Cristo
an absolute MASTERPIECE of a story, i cannot wait to read the book which i just bought. i love sam claflin in a period drama what can i say😊
The Count of Monte Cristo
I prefer my revenge films to have a double edge sword story line than end with a happy note.
The Count of Monte Cristo
Dumas’ novel is one of the classics that I have never read but have always wanted to, and after watch this movie it looks like I’ll have to if I want a competent and compelling version of this story. Even without having read the book I can tell that this story has been stripped down to just 4 or 5 plot beats and the in-between moments have been filled in with mediocre and weak writing to increase the pace of the narrative. Which is a shame because you can tell that if only someone cared, this could have been excellent. At least the Count was hot.
The Count of Monte Cristo
89/100 Great film.
The Count of Monte Cristo
"Between revenge and life, I chose life." Accidental revenge double feature watching this and The Northman in the same day 😛. (Liked this more than The Northman but maybe that's just the power of watching in a theater vs on a laptop) The best parts reminded me a bit of the princess bride, the large scale, elaborate plot, second identity, and long lost love (not to mention the sword fight in the end (which i very much enjoyed)) The drama was delicious and easy to get wrapped up in. Plus the emphasis on how living can be the best revenge, either in living a happy life as revenge against your foes or forcing your enemies to live a life of misery, not giving them peace in death was executed well and hit hard. Also WINNERS LOVE WINNING LET'S GO LESBIANS shout out Eugenie and Suzanne for those .5 seconds of romantic glances at each other Also was i going crazy or was there some cousin fucking going on 💀💀💀💀💀💀??? (It was the 1800s so i guess they get a pass or whateva 🙄.... But still..... 💀)
