“I should have said the words because I know that the love we hold back is the only pain that follows us here. And the memory of that love shouldn’t make you unhappy for the rest of your life.” What a beautiful film. Never knew Spielberg had this in him. This is him in his soft, emotional bag and it totally works. It hurts like a mf at times while watching this. The film has a very gentle, almost comforting vibe even though it deals with loss and letting go. It’s more about emotions than plot which might feel slow at first (especially the first half) but once it gets going, it really hits. Richard Dreyfuss does a solid job as always in these kinds of roles, but the real heart of the film is Holly Hunter omg she was so good in this movie. She brings so much warmth and emotion. I loved her character here. Visually, the film is beautiful especially the aerial fire sequences. Spielberg really killed it especially in those times. I don’t get how this isn’t one of his most talked about films. I’m even more shocked people here didn’t like this film and gave it such a low rating?? Bruh. Idc what anyone says this was an amazing watch. This is underrated af. *SPOILERS* The climax was beautiful. When she was flying the plane a part of me actually wanted her to die too (like Pete did) just so she could meet Pete again. But I’m glad it didn’t go that way. The film chooses something more meaningful that is letting go.

“To gain your freedom, you have to give it.” Spielberg cucks a ghost in such a disturbing, yet oddly sweet way, it’s hard to know how I feel about this.

Ok? Not really sure what this movie was lmao. Wasn’t good. Didn’t think it was bad. Kinda just ehhh. Goodman was good. Most definitely the standout. Underwhelming movie from Spiels but with a filmography as vast as his, there are bound to be some rough watches. 5.1
