Ken Russell again going for the "open mouth awe" response of his audience. Or at least this viewer, help! (Actually while sitting there slack-jawed, seldom-oiled gears were sloooowly spinning, trying to place where we'd seen that Snake Gal before... and then! like a 12 gauge to the stomach, clarity beckoned and the image of Jim Carrey's boss in "Liar, Liar" fell into view. Further movies with Mrs. Donohoe must remedy this situation.)

there are giant worm creatures, phallic imagery aplenty and hugh grant wielding a sword to attack a snake demon lady. so it’s definitely entertaining

❝Why all the fuss over a moldy worm?❞ ─── ･ ｡ﾟ☆: *.☽ .* :☆ﾟ. ─── This was a complete fever dream. At several points I had to check my cookies to see if I'd accidentally bought edibles, because some of those scenes were the stuff of highs. I still had a good time, though; I mean, who wouldn't love young twinky Hugh Grant and Peter Capaldi running around the hills of Derbyshire wielding swords and bagpipes? The plot was a little (actually a lot) weird, but it was completely overshadowed by the sheer amount of phallic imagery, and the cast, especially Amanda Donohoe, did great. Also: bro really went to fight a giant snake armed with a kilt, bagpipes and a grenade 😭.

this may be the best movie ive ever seen in my entire life, it’s got hugh grant hemisecting a snake woman with a huge sword AND peter capaldi charming a snake by playing bagpipes while wearing a kilt
