if i was going to make a one-liner review for this, i'd say something like "howl's moving castle looks a little different here". but i have so much more to say about this movie. first of, end credits sequence with cast/local people singing and dancing along to fontaines dc's too real?? LETS FUCKING GOOOOO this movie was such a joyful and emotional watch. being a tween and becoming a young teenage girl really is a universal experience huh? all this frustration and anger with the world, with wanting to be taken seriously and being perceived as a grown up but still being treated like a child while also having so much responsibility on your shoulders. nykiya adams is phenomenal in portraying this rite of passage into adolescence. i'm sure her future in acting is bright, she commands every scene, even the ones where she shares the screen with barry or franz. i'm not the biggest fan of magical realism but other than that, i can't really find anything to criticize about this movie. shoutout to the bomb soundtrack and carlos o'connell's pink hair. i love you fontaines dc!!!
