What should have been the final feature in the A Nightmare on Elm Street series, Freddy's Dead just shows how a series can become terrible after many movies. The 6th installment into this series is the worst. While watching it, I felt as if I myself were in a dream, since I couldn't believe that I was actually watching it. It's pretty much every other movie wrapped up into one. There was practically nothing enjoyable about this. It felt extremely recycled and, like the previous film, not like it was actually a Nightmare on Elm Street film. Practically nothing about this film is enjoyable. The only thing I found myself actually liking about it is the fact that the opening scene felt close to the premonition scenes in Final Destination. Other than that, I pretty much despised everything else. The first film in the series is a legend, while this is the bottom-of-the-barrel garbage.

Eu entendo e gosto muito da ideia de fazer um filme que seja aprofundando o Freddy e gosto mais ainda que isso seja feito sem inocentar ele mesmo que ele tenha uma origem conturbada, eu achei maravilhosos o que tentaram fazer aqui mas não dá pra deixar passar a quantidade de momentos toscos, o mal uso excessivo de cgi e as mortes péssimas, fora apostar em uma ideia repetitiva do final do primeiro filme. Eu sinto que esse filme é uma mistura de coisas dos demais filmes, mas assim, temos um elenco até que carismático e micros bons momentos, fora que eu acho interessante a ideia de usar o Freddy e seus "poderes" pra explorar o mental das vítimas, seja os traumas ou os sonhos e desejos, percebo que isso vem sendo feito desde o terceiro filme. Ele falha, mas não acho que seja o patinho inútil da franquia, dá pra apreciar a construção e os detalhes da história do Freddy que tentaram fazer, mas não da pra ignorar que o CGI de má qualidade destruiu o visual do filme. Tinha potencial, falhou pela mistura.

The final film in the main Nightmare series (excluding spin-offs, crossovers and reboots). Sadly it goes out with a whimper instead of a bang, but it isn't all bad! Let's get into it... The opening goes on so fucking long. There's an extended "rolling down a hill + POV" scene that made me feel sick. I had a nice dinner. 2 pieces of salmon with some rice on the side. Good stuff. Tasty meal. This opening made me feel like throwing it up The best part of this film were the credits because they show scenes from Nightmare 1 and 3. This movie isn't terrible. There's some good jokes, the dream sequences are better than they were in 4/5 and the acting (while terrible) made it a funnier watch. The Looney Toons inspired bit with Spencer was pretty good and got a laugh out of me. I actually think Freddy is more intimidating here without the make-up. Human Freddy is far scarier and darker than his Flander-ized version. I'm not gonna rip into this one cause it gets shit on enough by most people. Freddy's not scary, the characters are typical, the continuity is a mess, "where's the horror gone?", etc, etc, etc I'll say this - it's better than "Dream Master" and "Dream Child". That's not saying much but still...

This was so unserious lmao. It’s so terrible but it does ONE thing that makes it better than 2 and 5, which is not take itself seriously. It embraces that it’s a stupid movie, and it makes it more enjoyable. Freddy getting “reason” in the final movie was kinda lame lol, they should’ve introduced that a while back. The cast wasn’t great, but still better than 2 and 5. This concludes my watch-through of the main timeline, since the next 3 aren’t technically in-universe (I don’t believe they are, at least). 5.5/10

I always forget that this movie begins with quoting Nietzsche and follows that up by immediately follows with: “Welcome to Prime Time Bitch - Freddy Krueger” Maybe this is actually a masterpiece.

A sad and disappointing final chapter for the Springwood Slasher. There’s some interesting stuff in here, and some that’s even potentially creepy, but the overly humorous tone destroys any semblance of horror. The Freddy makeup is easily the worst of the original/mainline films. Fun to see a young Breckin Meyer.

So, I just rewatched this, and honestly, it’s not as bad as I thought it was upon first viewing. It’s certainly cheesy, but at least it’s better than the 5th one. However, that’s not saying much because it’s really stupid, although I laughed at parts of it.
