Halloween II

Nowhere near as good as the original but still entertaining. The stakes feel a lot lower in this despite numerous people dying. To be honest I like the sister twist but the way it was done wasn’t amazing. The music is pretty great in this as it was in the first instalment. No sure how Mike survives the ending but we shall see in the next one.

Halloween II

Halloween II

One of the best horror sequels of all time and it's aged remarkably. Pleasence's performance is still one of my favorites

Halloween II

Don't look now, I may even like this one more than the first, even with it now splashing around in the pool of imitators. Love the porous quality to suburbia, the roving POV and just-out-of-view proximity. It's not that you forgot to lock your doors, evil is already here and has free movement through its facade. (Has one of my favorite shots of the series-- the sleepy fella by the TV, woman watching from behind, and Michael contemplating in the background under the kitchen glare.) Loomis' wild wielding of the gun in the previous outing was great, but this one definitely seals his character's whole deal. Skeleton crew (ha) at the hospital is a really good staging area, those institutional hallways are so oppressive. And while it restricts the scope of the bogeyman effect, I'm still a fan of the family angle; really is one of THE things the rest of the series either reacts to or has to critique.

Halloween II

Really digging the look and feel of this one, floating viewpoint and all. And I think... the proximity? Yes. "He's right there!" you want to yell with these, reaching through the screen to grab whoever by the cheeks. What a wild and woolly night!

Halloween II

This was eh. I enjoyed Halloween much more. It was a decent movie, but doesn't quite live up to the first. It's nice getting to see what happens after the first movie, but doesn't quite make an impact like the first one does.

Halloween II

It's always important to watch films a second time, especially a film that has high ranking like Halloween II. After my first watch, I gave this film 1.5 stars, not really thinking about the importance of this film. Halloween II continues the story of Halloween, taking place right after the first film. While the story may not be as intriguing as the first film, since it is practically the first film with new characters and new situations, the film really serves as closure for the first film. Leaving on a cliffhanger as big as the one they had made space for the film to spawn into a franchise, with Michael Myers potentially becoming a household name (which we all know ended up happening, spawning 7 more sequels and a remake). It was brilliant to follow up on such a suspenseful story and still maintain Carpenter's vision and aesthetic. Halloween II may not be as good as the first film, but it still is an entertaining film that marks the beginning of a long and profitable franchise.

Halloween II

Wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow! What a fantastic sequel! Now you may be thinking - why is this guy watching "Halloween 2" in August and without watching the first one before-hand? Well, humble reader, I watch "Halloween" every Halloween (or at least try to). I'm saving this year for "Halloween", "Halloween (2018)" and "Halloween Kills". I figured I haven't seen this one since I was a kid (when Syfy was running their Halloween marathon) and I hardly remember it This movie is fantastic. I love a lot about this movie. I love that it picks up immediatedly from the first film and shows the aftermath. I love how The Shape truly blends in (not just in costume on the holiday but in with shadows and such). I love how this film's intro puts you in the Halloween spirit! I love to see Laurie Strode kicking into badass survivor instinct (as she does in both old canon and new canon). I love how this film is shot and how creative it gets with the cinematography. Don't even get me started on the sound design! It's superb. The acting is amazing too! While it drags a bit in some spots and Laurie is side-lined for majority of the film, this is an amazing follow-up to the original masterpiece!
