Parthenope

If I had a beautiful face, body and brain like Parthenope, of course I would take advantage of it. Watching this movie just to see the beauty of Parthenope and the Italian city, although this movie confused me because it was too artsy and poetic in its plot and script.

Parthenope

41/100 Check out my 2024 ranked - https://boxd.it/shaTi Not for me this. Only reason I wanted to watch this was because of how mesmerising Celeste Porta looked in the trailer and how beautifully shot the film was. While I did get that within the first 10 minutes, something else had to keep me invested for the remaining two hours and guess what, nothing did. Some of the worst two hours I’ve spent watching a movie, a complete borefest. I like indie films with a structure but aimless or abstract as the “artsy” people like to call it is what I cannot be interested in. It’s all about Parthenope trying to overcome grief and trying paths to distract herself when in reality, she’s got no use of her beauty, she’s intelligent and that’s what her deal is. She accepts that and gets some purpose back. The one man who doesn’t perverse her is the one she found solace with and respects most. You certainly get things from the film. I mean you watch something for 2 hours with concentration, you are gonna pick up something but what I did pick up was not worth my time. Gorgeous cinematography, most of it being useless and a pleasant score make it bearable but the lack of purpose will always frustrate me. Also she fucked the priest (pope-to-be mind you), she really is into anyone, she’s a whore who just so happens to be purposefully mysterious and intelligent in her subject matter. The helicopter guy said it best, she acts smarter than she actually is.

Parthenope

This is must be the place).

Parthenope
