Diary entries forBlazing Saddles
Blazing Saddles
I cannot believe that I had originally rated this film so low. Brooks is a master of comedy, which shines in Blazing Saddles. I forgot just how funny the jokes are, and while they may be jokes that wouldn’t be done today, that doesn’t take away from the fact that this is a genuinely funny film. This was a much-needed rewatch to remind me just how good a Mel Brooks production is.

Listen, I don't hate this film. There's some damn good, even witty dialogue and gags here. The ending is absolutely cartoony in the best way. The soundtrack is good. Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder are great in this... My problem is that the movie relies a bit too heavily on the shock value of racist/homophobic dialogue and gags. It gets old quickly once the shock value is lost Also, a special "fuck you" to my friend Alec for breaking my October horror streak on Day 1
Blazing Saddles
I may have a crush on Cleavon Little now

6 years later upon rewatch: this was kinda gay
Blazing Saddles
All time banger.

I can see why people like this one so much. There were numerous times throughout where I burst out laughing. The whole ending sequence didn’t quite connect with me however. I did thoroughly enjoy the dialogue and the misfit of characters was great. A good comedy that likely couldn’t be made today. 7.6

watched this on a whim after days of watching the twilight zone (https://srlzd.com/u/startofsummer). incredibly enjoyable and honestly makes me question why i didn’t like spaceballs that much.
