28 Years Later
This is what happens when horror grows up and glows up—right from the first minute, the tension simmers and seeps into your bones. The sound design creeps, the visuals land hard, and the camera feels possessed, always doing something interesting. The story is tight and emotional, hitting that perfect balance of not too much, not too little. It’s better than 28 Days Later (sorry) and absolutely clears Weeks. No contest.

“there are many kinds of death…and some are better than others. the best are peaceful. where we leave each other in love” “memento amoris. remember you must love” of course a zombie media made me cry once again what the hell. i wasnt even expecting to cry bcs the first 2 didnt made me cry but ultimately these films are about familial love in all its forms and surviving the odds (zombies). 1st one has found family, 2nd has sisters, and this one has mom and son. incredible incredible performance between jodie comer and alfie williams, i love their relationship so much. im seated for the rest of the trilogy! also cinematography is soooo fucking incredible, everything is so beautiful. and btw the only person who sucks in this movie is jamie, fuck off!

Honestly a great showcase of horror and the zombie genre… the cinematography is brilliant and scenes keep you on your toes and for a horror to do that nowadays I think it has to be really well put together.

This has, without exaggeration, the worst ending to a film I’ve ever seen in a cinema. At time of review this is sitting at 3.8 on Letterboxd which is absolutely obscene, the ending alone drags this down to a 6/10 at about best. The problem is the film itself is pretty decent, like not fantastic but pretty good. The acting is great, the story is interesting, there are bad moments like the randomness of the solider situation, but it’s pretty interesting. This kid might be the luckiest kid of all time, he no joke gets saved about 4 times from 4 different people during this, genuinely silly stuff. However, nothing on this planet surprised me like the ending. We go from seeing his mum die from fucking cancer to having a group of cringe, pedo looking, people come and ‘save’ this kid. They’re doing backflips and saying all sorts of cringe things, it feels like a cheap YouTube parody. It reminds me of the book of boba fett, the chase scene on the bikes, this is probably worse than that believe it or not. Unbelievable that more people are not talking about how absolutely awful the ending to this is, but oh well the rest of the film is pretty decent.

Não é a pior coisa que eu vi, mas também não é um grande filme , terminei esse com um pensamento em mente... Será se eu odeio o Danny Boyle ou eu fui injusto? E enquanto escrevo isso possuo uma resposta... Ou meia resposta... Enfim, é sim e não, ao mesmo tempo. Primeiro começando pelo que me agrada, o Danny Boyle é um desses diretores que surge na virada do milênio entregando uma proposta interessante pra essa nova Hollywood. Um filme de "zumbi" todo filmado em uma tekpix, na época isso surge como novidade e as pessoas pintam ele de gênio, não posso me desgarrar do meu tempo material e por isso digo e repito: aquele filme é Birdemic antes de Birdemic, é feio, é confuso, é chato no seu terço final e tem um texto sobre humanidade que é o que o Robert Kirkman fazia nos seus piores momentos enquanto escrevia The Walking Dead. Muita gente despreza Extermínio 2, mas eu adoro aquele filme inclusive acho que ele é mais engajante e direto ao ponto que o primeiro filme... Imaginem a minha surpresa ao constatar que o Danny Boyle também gosta do segundo filme!? Sejamos justo, não acho que ele seja um fã do segundo filme, não ironicamente o filme se inicia com um texto que faz um retcon e exclui todo o segundo filme tematicamente, porém quando ele parte pra interação de personagens, a dinâmica da ação, os arquétipos muito mais lembra o filme de Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. Toda a idéia de um "Países Altos" preso nos anos 2000 por conta do isolamento é um conceito muito bom. A idéia de um retrocesso social, uma lógica de clãs viking e derivados como modelo de sociedade – Inclusive curioso como não existem, ou quase não existem, pessoas negras nessa comunidade – é um modelo de sociedade que reforça ideais de força e coragem, mas desde o começo isso é desmontado com a figura do pai, um Aaron Taylor-Johnson inexpressivo, mas aí é o mínimo, que depois de 30 minutos o filme escanteia ele e não faz falta nenhuma. E eu acho muito interessante como ele se inicia sendo um filme de ação, com uma montagem bem podre diga-se de passagem (os fãs vão dizer que é estilo, tudo bem), mas isso o Danny Boyle não melhorou nem desde o primeiro. Existe uma pretensão nas correlações imagéticas que o diretor tenta empurra na gente que você não sabe se é cinismo ou falta de amigos pra dizer que tá cafona, e não de uma forma boa, mas quando parte pra construção de tensão e principalmente construção de cena, ele entrega. Só fico muito chateado que ele tenha se contentado com panorâmicas e não ousou mais, afinal já que ele quer tanto servir algo autoral com esse projeto de auto escalão, poderia ter se permitido mais, mas é bom saber que ele tem uma visão que permite criar cenas, principalmente noturnas, onde você enxerga bem e tem quadros interessantes aqui e alí. Mas sendo bem sincero, o que tá comigo até agora, além dos conceitos visuais – destaque pro templo dos ossos do Ralph Fiennes que aqui está um querido – foi o infectado de 2 metros de altura e 18cm, os 18cm não são de altura. No geral é um filme que não te perde, na verdade a rítmica dele esmurra e muito o primeiro filme que beira o enfadonho, mas no fim é o Danny Boyle revivendo o ápice da carreira dele, afinal acho que nem ele lembra que já ganhou um Oscar, mas também acho que nem ele sabe porque venceu um Oscar. No mais, é a experiência de terror Blockbuster mais diferente desse ano, ele te entrega um filme de terror com um suspense sólido nos 30 minutos iniciais, uma jornada pessoal que é legal de acompanhar e uma conclusão extremamente emocional é que de fato faz valer aqueles atores tão bons e tão dedicados, destaque para o Spike de Alfie Williams. Legalzinho!

However good/great you think this is (my hottest take all year is potentially going to be "anyone who thinks 28YL was anything less than 4 stars by the end of the water chase scene is insane"), it hits another level the moment Ralph Fiennes shows up and never descends from there. Worth the wait

this was really great!! the 28 later movies always does a great job at creating that eerie and unsettling atmosphere, but i think this one did it best! the first 15 mins alone was absolutely amazing! and i also really love how the story revolves around this kid who loves his mother so much that he would go out there to help her, it was a dumb thing to do but still. definitely my favorite out of the 3 28 later movies. it's already 2026 where i'm at, so happy new year!! i hope this year is better for all of us! ❤️🎉

o roterista e o diretor fumaram muita maconha pra fazer este filme. mas até que gostei, a fotografia é bem bonita e o figurino também, mas a história é uma completa viagem…
