The Third Man

Got treated to this for my 22nd Birthday by my beautiful girlfriend and what a gift it was. We watched this at the Plaza at Stockport and it was a very beautiful place. Sadly, despite the building  being amazing, the sound really didn’t work very well. The speakers are placed behind the screen, so everything sounds very muffled. It was near impossible to hear what the characters were saying and we had to pull up the subtitles on our phones or it would’ve been unwatchable. Once we had subs it was slightly annoying to have to look down at the phone every time a character spoke, but it wasn’t too bad and didn’t effect my viewing experience that much. It’s amazing they don’t put subtitles on the screen, it was make the experience 10x better. The film itself is actually great. The story is interesting and intense, and the reveal of him being alive is fantastic. I loved the chase at the end and the Ferris wheel scene. It’s a great film which I will definitely watch again with subs some day. Thank you for the birthday gift beautiful!

The Third Man

completely forgot I had to watch a bunch of movies for this detective fiction midterm so ignore my next few logs! this isn't a movie I would normally pick out for myself, but I'm glad I watched it. while I found it entertaining enough, I can't say it's one I can see myself revisiting in the future. that said, it did push citizin kane up on my to watch list. I wasn't aware of your game orson welles... one of the best title drops I've heard in a while ngl

The Third Man

everyone’s gotta stop saying the music in this is like the spongebob music, because now i’m thinking about it, and darn they are kind of right. no but it’s an interesting sort of juxtaposition to have the music be like that in a film that like basically a lot of noirs, is fairly dark and cynical. the mystery is very gripping and has a lot of interesting twists and turns, which end up introducing us to a very good villain.

The Third Man

I need to watch it again while paying attention. I also watched on Kanopy and the audio was desynced which really put me out of it.

The Third Man

I was bullied into watching this by several friends. I will say Orson’s character, to me, at least, was by far the most interesting one here. I’m not sure if I particularly enjoyed the mystery/noir elements however. I’ll have to give in another watch some day.

The Third Man

got the full Holly Martins experience both because I couldn't understand any of the German and was forced to stare at the [speaking German] subtitle anytime there was extended German dialogue and because that cat was so cute playing with Harry's shoelaces i was a little morally conflicted about the whole shooting him for all the evils he did thing for a millisecond. man this really is a beautiful film, the cinematography rocked, the framing, lighting, the blocking, it all worked together beautifully. the performances where great and while the score was odd, it grew on me. At first the loud and chime-y nature stood out as kinda clashing with the darker subject, despite this clash, or maybe because of it, it has a charm that fits with the twisting confusion and bumbling bureaucracy in the air in Vienna, the oddball characters that walk the streets, and the cultural tension as the major international players carve it up and reshape it. anyway,,to get to the real mystery here..., do you think at any point in that 20 years of friendship Holly and Harry explored each other's bodies? because i think maybe definitely yes
