Tal qual Bicho Papão que vi ano passado, esse aqui tem coisas que mais me agradaram do que desagradaram. A principal é como esse filme não tem vergonha de ser um filme chupinhado de várias idéias e conceitos dos terrores que eram, em sua maioria, adaptações de Stephen King. Gosto de como o filme abraça o fake da situação, os flashback que claramente é uma tela verde, os fantasmas super exagerados e o trunfo: a piscina que conforme abraça a fantasia da coisa se transforma em um oceano. A forma como a camera capta a claustrofobia desse oceano que ao mesmo tempo é gigante é vazio. A maior fraqueza desse filme é realmente a dinâmica familiar que, sinceramente? Quem liga!? O Wyatt Russel é muito pick me boy. Primeiro que ele já tem cara de doido então quando a entidade da piscina toma conta... Meio que ele já tava 50% pronto pra esse momento. O drama familiar é fraco e só a mãe se esforça pra expremer alguma coisa. Apesar do terror ser fraco, gosto como a piscina é um ser vivo. Ele é reflexo dos dois lados, do físico e do metafísico. É um descarte de estúdio? Com certeza, mas vi valor na sua execução, até certo ponto.

this is probably one of the worst "horror" movies i've ever seen. this felt like a book you would find in the horror/thriller section for kids even though there are WAY better books that i've read. this also felt like a concept that was made in the 2000s and decided to release it now, like this movie would work better if it was released in 2009-2011, but still would be awful. and if this was a rated r film i would probably still give it under 3 stars. also whoever designed that fat creature needs to be fired cause that is one of the worst creatures i've ever seen, like it's so fucking ugly.

A simple concept and great execution make Night Swim one of the most memorable modern horror shorts. It's such a simple concept that manages to still be terrifying. The visuals are equally impressive, especially the underwater sequences, which really are stunning. This is the type of horror short that makes me love horror, since it shows just how unique the genre can be while still being scary.

Night Swimis a unique concept, which unfortunately falters due to a plot that is spread far too thin. There’s only so much you can do with a haunted pool, and I do applaud the writers for attempting to create a story that is compelling and explains what’s going on, but in the end creates a story that feels like it’s grasping for straws. With as thin as the plot was, the film felt surprisingly bloated, and this could have been chopped by 20 minutes and still told the story in a more streamlined way. The scares aren’t anything to write home about, but the setup was fun at least. At the end of the day, Night Swim is entertaining enough to warrant a watch, but unfortunately misses the mark on bringing any actual scares and genuine plot.

After another visit, this short really does a fantastic job at maintaining a creepy atmosphere while keeping it simple. A simple concept, great execution, and beautiful filmmaking make this film truly work, being one of the best horror shorts that I've seen in a while.
