“I saw what I thought I saw, and I wanted to help the person I thought I saw”
The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker
Engaging enough, but it seems to focus too little on the actual crime that makes up the “crime” part of this True Crime documentary. I’m not asking for the gory details, but only the last 30ish minutes is spent on the crime, in contrast to the near hour spent on trying to make you like Kai. Was this simply a case of not having enough people to interview and corroborate the stories about his childhood? The murder at the center of this is fairly open and shut, so, I understand it not necessarily being a large part, but then I question the need for the doc at all, certainly the length is unnecessary. It is made with quite a bit of style, so I’ll definitely keep an eye out for whatever Colette Camden does next. 2023 Ranked (https://boxd.it/kiMdu)
