Blood for Dust

"The only thing that matters is if you're the kind of guy nobody would expect." "Did you expect me tonight?" My Tribeca experience thus far has been mostly (unintentionally) documentary-filled. Before I take a break to do Chattanooga, I'm happy to stumble onto a pretty good crime thriller that may not do much new, but does a lot well, including some stunning cinematography from Justin Derry (whose work I was already familiar with from being a fan of the underseen/underrated Minor Premise), and a great starring performance by Scoot McNairy as Cliff The best scene is where he and Kit Harington (who's delightfully unhinged as Ricky; I saw every year of Game of Thrones live as it aired, and I don't recall liking his presence as much in his last few/major seasons of it as I loved him in every minute here) talk about selling the lie of hope to others; it defines their characters essentially, as one talks of a past instance of it full of regret, while the other talks of his current endeavor with it as the only thing really keeping him/his partner/their relationship going. Sometimes we don’t need or want to hear the truth; sometimes that’s the better option
