Talia Ryder is fantastic in this. Beautifully shot, with a chaotic energy that feels true to the experience of youth. Feels hyper of its time, but timeless as well. I’d expect this will gain a cult following. 2023 Ranked (https://boxd.it/kiMdu)

well what ever the fuck, everything did happen. what the hell is america. pretentious, and nonsensical. it's very self-aware but dense. i like it but i don't hence the rating. talia ryder really carried this whole thing, as the protagonist. it wouldn't have done anything if she wasn't the mc.

El debut de Sean Price Williams en la silla de director supone todas sus virtudes estéticas mientras propone una lisérgica narrativa que retrata un Estados Unidos contemporáneo bastante polarizado. The Sweet East cuenta la historia de Lilian, una joven estudiante de último grado que viaja con su grupo de compañeros a Washington D.C., Lilian pierde el rumbo de ese grupo y se embarca en un viaje mágico por diferentes partes del país. Narrada como un pasapantallas teatral donde cada espacio o momentos marca a la perfección el tono, género e interpretación de sus actores, la película supone un análisis sin prejuicios que deja volar la imaginación en ideas tan tangibles como intangibles. El artificio narrativo, junto a la estética orgánica, pero muy superficial, complementan a la perfección este delirante journey, donde cualquier idea extravagante o irreal tiene cabida en el mundo que atraviesa Lilian, que por su parte consigue darle un rol interpretativo bastante potente por la actriz Talia Ryder quien no es ajena a este tipo de viajes retadores donde el centro y corazón dramático está puesto sobre sus hombros. La película ofrece una experiencia divertida y lo suficientemente tonta desde el principio como para saber a qué tipo de sátira no enfrentará, el increíble opening en musical mientras los créditos van corriendo es el inicio perfecto que hará al espectador entrar o no en la película de Price, el despliegue visual y narrativo de la historia podrá sobrepasar por mucho todo el resto de elementos que trae al juego el director, pero al terminar todo este viaje The Sweet East té dará de qué pensar por un par de día.
